Man falls from Areca Palm, suffers internal injuries

A L. Gan man fell from an Areca Palm on Friday night and suffered internal injuries as a result.

A resident of the island said that the 28 year old individual frequently climbs trees. He fell 30 feet onto a sand dune while he was climbing the tree at a house in Mathimaradhoo, said the resident.

The injured individual has been taken to IGMH after receiving treatment from Gamu Regional Hospital. 

"After he fell, he got up and walked to a nearby house. He then said that he was having trouble breathing. An ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital," said the island resident.

The resident said that the injured individual is a criminal who doesn't get much care or support from his family.

The IGMH official said that the 28 year old individual is currently receiving treatment. No details regarding the injury were given.
