V. Fulidhoo Council President Mohamed Imthiyaz said that President Muizzu is the first to come to Fulidhoo post a presidential campaign, making it a historic moment.

Before he highlighted the projects, he highlighted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is the first President to visit Fulidhoo after an election campaign ever since democracy was introduced to Maldives in 2008.

"This is the first time a President who has been elected by the people has visited V. Fulidhoo. This also includes since Maldives' first fair and free election process, outside of Presidential and Parliamentary election campaigns," said the Fulidhoo Council President.

The reason why President Muizzu visiting Fulidhoo is special is due to the fact that various and many projects were announced for the very first time in the island. The President is currently visiting 31 islands across four atolls, a visit he began this afternoon.

During the Fulidhoo Council President's speech, he stated projects such as the start of practical work regarding the harbor, the start of ATM services and USD ATM services being available by March 2026.

The Council President went on to say that it brought them great joy when President Muizzu announced a USD ATM is to be installed in Fulidhoo, an island that is almost wholly dependent on tourism.

The foundation for a medical center has also been laid. An agreement to build an outdoor volleyball court has also been signed.

"As per the President, the land reclamation project will also go underway as soon as the government receives word from Fulidhoo residents," said Imthiyaz.

"With all these reasons combined, this is quite a historic day for Fulidhoo."

During President Muizzu's speech, he had said that the island's residents had requested for a solution regarding their housing issue.

The President went on to say that Fulidhoo residents haven't been given the land they've been allocated for 15 years and that if the residents desire it, the reclamation project can be started alongside the harbor project.

As per the President's Office, President Muizzu's visits to islands and seeing the state of the islands for himself is in line with his Presidential pledge to visit all inhabited islands twice within his term.
