President Muizzu amends geographic jurisdiction of Thaa atoll Madifushi

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has issued a decree expanding the geographic jurisdiction of Thaa atoll Madifushi to include Thaa atoll Ufuriyaa and Thaa atoll Kolhufushi.

The decision follows a presidential pledge to bring these islands under Madifushi’s jurisdiction.

The amendment was made through a presidential decree under the authority granted to the President by the Decentralization Act, which empowers the President to determine and designate the jurisdictions of both City and Island Councils.

Following the decree, a revised chart outlining the updated boundaries of Madifushi’s jurisdiction has been codified and published in the Government Gazette.
