Repeat abuse suspect held for sexual abuse of own child

Police have arrested a man for sexually abusing his own child. A case of sexual abuse of another girl against the same individual has already been sent to the PG Office for prosecution. 

The father was arrested this time for sexual abuse of his nine year old daughter. 

Police said that the incident occurred in an island under the North Central Police. They confirmed that they received reports last Sunday of sexual abuse of a minor by a person in a position of trust. 

They stated that a 32 year old Maldivian man had been arrested under a court order in relation to this case. 

The arrested man has a prior criminal record. 

Police said that investigations have concluded into a separate case against him, with the case now forwarded for prosecution. The PG Office did not disclose details of this case. 

However, Mihaaru News reports that the case concerns allegations of sexual abuse of another minor.
