Civil Court has once again ordered former Civil Court Judge Mohamed Haleem to settle the outstanding bills and repair costs of an apartment he rented.
Haleem, now serving as the Legal Manager at Stelco, rented the property from a private company in 2019. Upon vacating, the unpaid bills and repair costs totaled MVR 69,000.
In December last year, the court ordered Haleem to pay the full amount within seven days. However, after the company filed an enforcement case, Haleem requested to pay MVR 3,000 per month until the debt is cleared. The company agreed to the arrangement.
On Sunday, the Civil Court ruled that Haleem must continue monthly payments of MVR 3,000, and failure to comply will allow the company to demand the entire outstanding amount at once.
