President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Maldives after an official visit to Qatar, where he attended the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha on 15 September 2025.
In his address at the summit, President Muizzu condemned the recent Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as a crime against humanity and an assault on the dignity of the Arab and Islamic world. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with both Qatar and Palestine, urging urgent international action to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and to restore peace and stability in the region.
On the sidelines, President Muizzu met Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, conveying condolences over the loss of lives in the attack, and reaffirming support for Qatar and Palestine. The two leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation. President Muizzu praised Qatar’s mediation role and humanitarian efforts for Palestine.
The summit, convened by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), brought together Muslim leaders to jointly condemn Israel’s actions and call for coordinated measures to uphold international law and safeguard Palestinian rights.
The visit highlighted Maldives’ commitment to defending human dignity, justice, and the right of all peoples to live free from oppression and occupation.
