HDC has prohibited the use of vehicles with engines in the Hulhumale’ Channel Park, the channel where bridges connect Hulhumale’ Phase 1 and Phase 2.
The channel is widely used for sea sports, with jetski’s and other sea vehicles being used.
HDC announced today that the Channel Park bridge is used by children and elderly alike, and is being used to revitalize and restore corals by HDC.
And so, come Friday, HDC has stated that vehicles with engines will be prohibited to go through the channel as it is not safe for those who use it and for the revitalization of corals.
The "Coral Garden Project" was started on 22nd July by the HDC, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maldives Marine Research Institute (MMRI). That day saw a large amount of coral be planted for revitalization.
