The seventh extraordinary sitting of the Parliament, sittings which have taken place during their term break, is scheduled to be held tomorrow, with no announcements made yet regarding the agenda.

Parliament held its fifth and sixth extraordinary sitting today.

Prior to this series of extraordinary sittings, PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Inguraidhoo MP Ibrahim Falah told Mihaaru News that the sittings were to mainly cover the approval of appointment of a President and Vice President for the Civil Service Commission (CSC), along with a Vice President for the Human Rights Commission (HRC).

These two works were completed during today's six extraordinary sitting, with the Referendum Bill work being finished during the fifth extraordinary sitting today.

Parliament's highest priority right now is the Media Regulation Bill, proposed by Thulhaadhoo MP Abdul Hannan AbuBakur.

The bill, while proposed by an independent, was strongly defended by supermajority PNC in Parliament, is currently being reviewed by the Independent Institutions Committee.

While the committee worked to finalize the proposed amendments by the government, the bill will most likely be put to a vote during tomorrow's sitting.

Journalists have expressed that the bill will greatly obstruct their work. However, the government reassures that the amendments proposed by the Attorney General's Office will bring about major and positive changes to the bill.
