Parliament approves Mujuthaz as CSC President, Nasih as Vice President

Both candidates were approved by unanimous votes. Mujuthaz received 68 votes from 68 members present, while Nasih was approved by 64 out of 65 votes, with one opposition member from the MDP voting against.

Parliament has approved the appointments of Mohamed Mujuthaz as President of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and Mohamed Nasih as Vice President.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu submitted the motion for their approval during the fifth extraordinary sitting of Parliament today. The motion was referred to the Independent Institutions Committee, which decided not to interview the two candidates, citing their previous interviews and appointments to the commission.

Both candidates were approved by unanimous votes. Mujuthaz received 68 votes from 68 members present, while Nasih was approved by 64 out of 65 votes, with one opposition member from the MDP voting against.

Mujuthaz, a CSC member since April, holds a Bachelor of Laws from Maldives College of Higher Education. He also served as the Member of Parliament for Hanimaadhoo in the 17th Parliament and as State Minister at the President’s Office under former President Abdulla Yameen.

Nasih, who has been a member of the CSC since 2020, is currently the President of the commission. This marks his second term on the commission.
