A teacher who had been teaching in Addu City for 23 years has passed away last night.

Indian teacher Sajimanth Seebee, 60 was found dead in his room by a fellow teacher.

Known in 1995 as Addu Hithadhoo's Southern Secondary School and known now as Sharafuddin School, Sajimanth taught there as a Commerce teacher from 1995 to 2002 and again from 2009 to 2011. From 2011 until his death, he had been teaching at Addu High School as a Business teacher.

Addu High School Principal Ibrahim Nadheem told Mihaaru News that Sajimanth would turn up to school with a teacher whom he shared a house with.

When said teacher had knocked on Sajimanth's door this morning, he opened the door due to there being no response. The teacher saw that Sajimanth passed away, said Nadheem while referring to the teacher's statements.

"He even went jogging last night, said that he was feeling a bit tired and was going to his room. He checked up on Sajimanth when it was time to go to school today and found him fallen on the floor of his room, dead," said Nadheem referring to the teacher who had lived with Sajimanth.

"He had returned last week from India due to his father's passing."

As per Nadheem, Sajimanth was a well-known teacher throughout Addu. He also said that Sajimanth's students would get world-class results in examinations and had achieved major success.

"Even I was a student of Sajimanth. Even former Finance Minister Ameer and Hight Court Judge Hussain Mazeed were students of Sajimanth," said Nadheem.

Sajimanth is survived by a wife and two kids.

Nadheem stated that they still don't know the cause of his death. However, tests have been done and they are now viewing the deceased, said Nadheem.

Nadheem has said that they are working towards sending Sajimanth's body back to India as soon as possible.
