President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has last night departed to Qatar to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit.

The Summit is scheduled to be held today. The emergency summit is being held to address the Israeli attack on September 9.

President Muizzu will be delivering a statement at the summit.

President Muizzu's attendance at the summit underscores Maldives' steadfast solidarity with Qatar, as well as the enduring support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, the President's Office said.

The visit also amplifies the Maldives' call for immediate and unified international efforts to halt the atrocities and human rights violence perpetrated by Israel.

The President's Office further highlighted that the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit brings together the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and serves as a platform to emphasize the united voice of the Muslim Ummah in pursuing concrete international measures to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.
