Police seize 33 phones in Maafushi Prison during anti-scam operation

Police revealed today that they seized 33 mobile phones and other contraband from Maafushi Prison during an anti-scam operation conducted last Thursday. 

Investigations into scam cases submitted to Police uncovered that inmates at Maafushi Prison are often involved in the scams, Police said. This led to Thursday's operation at the prison. 

During the search of the prison, Police uncovered 33 mobile phones of various brands, earpods, headsets, phone charging cables and SIM cards. 

The matter is under further investigation. 

Police stated that more joint anti-scam operations with Maldives Correctional Services will be conducted in the coming days.
