The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has announced plans to carry out inspections of food service establishments across the city starting from September 21 until the end of the month.

In a statement issued today, the agency said the purpose of the inspections is to ensure compliance with hygiene standards and to identify businesses that are operating without proper registration under the MFDA.

The inspection campaign will be conducted in collaboration with the Malé City Council and Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Under the Food Safety Act, all food service establishments are legally required to register with the MFDA. The agency warned that any unregistered businesses found during the inspections will be shut down, and their details will be made public.
