Dr Shah Mahir has been appointed as the Managing Director of State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation.
The corporation was established last Tuesday.
Privatization and Corporatization Board announced the appointment of Shah and two board members today.
The newly appointed board members to the pharmaceutical company are Aishath Mohamed, M. Kurehdhooge, and Shibana Abdulla Didi, Flat no. 10-3-1.
Until his new appointment, Shah was serving as Deputy CEO at Dharumavantha Hospital. He also served as a State Minister for Health during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation was formed as a separate company to handle procurement and business of pharmaceuticals in the country.
The company will be bringing in medicine, medical consumables and medical equipment in bulk, and will be responsible for supplying it across the regions, the President's Office has said.
