Demolition of EDC building has begun

WAMCO Managing Director Mujuthaba Jaleel told Mihaaru News today that certain "critical areas" of the building have already been demolished. They have made space for debris to fall as well, with the demolition work set to continue soon, as said by the MD.

WAMCO has been handed the work of demolishing the Education Development Center (EDC) building, the one where a part of a wall had earlier collapsed. The building was under operation via the Higher Education Ministry.

The building has been in disuse for some time now, with a portion of a wall falling on 16th August.

Even though no one was injured in the incident, vehicles that were close by had suffered damage.

WAMCO Managing Director Mujuthaba Jaleel told Mihaaru News today that certain "critical areas" of the building have already been demolished. They have made space for debris to fall as well, with the demolition work set to continue soon, Jaleel said.

"The surrounding area has been closed off and secured. No one can enter there now," said Mujuthaba.

WAMCO was also responsible for the demolition work of the old buildings at Aminiya School and Iskandar School.

The to-be-demolished EDC building used to hold classes from various MNU faculties. Even then, the building had quite a bit of wear and tear.
