Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu has stated that arrangements will be made for a building to be constructed for a Scout Association’s office so that they can conduct their affairs. Until recently, they had been operating in Arabiyya School.
Due to the pillars of the building having cracks running along them, Arabiyya School has brought their learning services to a halt from January 2022 onward. The school’s property is being removed from the premises so that the building can be demolished.
With that, the Scout administration was brought to a close, with them being told to vacate the premises as well. Work is being conducted to remove the property of the ministry, Election’s Commission and the Cadet Office.
A lot of parents have expressed concern due to the closure of the Scout office’s shop as that’s where a lot of Maldives’ schools get what they need to conduct Scout activities.
Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu told Mihaaru News yesterday that as the Scouts and Cadets are both under the oversight of their ministry, they will make arrangements for both associations to get their own office buildings.
The minister also said that they will make arrangements for the buildings by October 10th, which is the deadline for all property to be removed from the premises.
