PG Office levies charges against five suspects in Anas murder

The Prosecutor General’s Office on Thursday forwarded charges against five more suspects over the murder of Mohamed Anas, who was stabbed to death in capital Male in late July.

The five suspects are Usman Shareef of Male, Ahmed Zayan of Lhaviyani atoll Kurendhoo island, Junaih Abdulla of Laamu atoll Gan island, Hassan Masood of Addu atoll Feydhoo island, and Simah Moosa.

Usman Shareef and Ahmed Zayan are being charged with homicide by sharp force under the Prohibiting Threatening and Possession of ‎Dangerous Weapons and Sharp Objects Act, while the other three are indicted for being accomplices in the crime.

Earlier, the Juvenile Court had revealed that a minor of 17 years is also being charged with homicide by sharp force over the murder.

Further, Police have two more suspects under arrest, Afrah Abdul Razzaq, 21, and Mohamed Saaz, 21. The two have not been arraigned yet.

Mohamed Anas, of Raa atoll Meedhoo island, was found with 37 stab wounds in Litus Service Centre on July 31. He was a captain of a speedboat operated in Raa atoll.
