A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing terrorism case, police have confirmed. The arrest comes as part of an investigation into alleged attempts to influence witnesses in a pending trial.
According to police, the suspect, who was previously arrested five years ago in relation to the same case, was taken into custody following a court-authorized search of his residence. Several digital devices were seized during the operation.
In addition to the suspect, digital devices belonging to two other individuals were also confiscated under court orders. However, no further details have been disclosed, and the identity of the arrested man has not been made public.
Police launched the operation earlier today, following allegations of attempting to interfere with witness testimony.
While authorities have not officially confirmed the case details, Mihaaru News has learned that the operation is linked to a man arrested in late 2020 for allegedly attempting to carry out an explosion at Thimarafushi School. That individual is believed to have tried to influence a witness in the current trial.
