Maldives Scout Association has announced the temporary closure of its office and shop after being asked to vacate its current premises.
In a statement today, the association said its office and shop, previously located in the Arabiyya School building on Chandhanee Magu, have been closed until a new building is arranged. Arabiyya School has remained shut since January 2022 due to severe structural damage.
Chief Commissioner of Scouts Maeed Mohamed Zahir told Mihaaru News that the Education Ministry had ordered the association to vacate the building by today. “We have been asked to leave, but as another space has not been provided yet, services have been suspended temporarily,” he said.
The closure has also affected the scout shop, which supplies equipment used in school scout programmes across the Maldives. The association apologised for the disruption and said operations would resume once a new location is secured.
