Interested parties can now apply for medical internships at Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).
As per an announcement from AEH, 15 individuals will be chosen for the internship's first intake. Those who are interested can fill out and submit the application from today onwards.
Conditions for the internship are as follows:
- Individuals with an MBBS certificate from a medical college or medical university.
- Individuals with a Certificate of Provisional Medical Registration from the Maldives Medical and Dental Council.
- Individuals must not have a police record within the last five years.
AEH has said that individuals are to present their MBBS certificate and copy of a Police Clearance Certificate along with the application form. They also said that chosen interns have to produce the original certificates to the hospital prior to starting.
Interested parties can submit all relevant documents to AEH's administration office or their email. If a submission is to be made via email, all required documents are to be compiled into a single PDF.
AEH also stated that if more than 15 individuals meet the requirements for the internship, priority will be given to those who acquired their MBBS on earlier dates and those who have spent an extended amount of time after course completion.
As per the Maldives Medical Council's guideline, licenses to practice can only be given out after five to six years of study, with one year of internship completion.
With internship demand increasing at IGMH, the Health Ministry requested that ADK begin an internship program as well, with it being conducted currently. However, the program is being conducted with doctors having to pay a fee of MVR 14,500. There are 20 doctors currently undergoing internships at ADK.
