With the lunar eclipse occurring tomorrow, the Islamic Ministry has informed everyone in all islands to perform the eclipse prayer.
The lunar eclipse will begin tomorrow night at 8:28pm. The eclipse will be at its peak during 11:11pm. The eclipse will end at 1:55am.
As per the circular sent to islands by the ministry, eclipse prayers are to take place tomorrow night at 11:12pm, to be held at the largest mosque in each respective island.
"We request island councils to organize the eclipse prayers to be held in the largest mosque in their respective islands on 7th September 2025, Sunday at 11:15pm," as stated in the ministry's circular.
The ministry has stated that they will upload the prayer sermon to their website tomorrow.
Along with the total lunar eclipse, many parts in Asia, Europe and Africa will also see the blood moon, a phenomenon that won't be seen for thousands of years.
All of Maldives will be able to see the lunar eclipse tomorrow night. However, weather forecasts state that cloud coverage will be at 81 percent in Male', with a slight chance of rain present. Northern Maldives is predicted to have 83 percent cloud coverage, with Southern Maldives predicted to have 70 percent cloud coverage.
