Several individuals have been arrested under the newly enacted Gang Crimes and Dangerous Crimes Prevention Act, which came into force last month. The arrests were made in connection with the possession of sharp weapons.

According to police, three suspects were taken into custody for allegedly possessing two knives, an offense now covered under the new law.

Under the court’s order, one of the suspects has been remanded for 30 days, while the other two will remain in custody for 15 days, pending further investigation.

Although the arrests were made under the new law, police have not yet disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of the case.

The Gang Crimes and Dangerous Crimes Prevention Act replaced the previous Gang Crimes Act, which was repealed due to legal limitations. The new legislation introduces stricter penalties and broader powers to address gang activity, possession of dangerous weapons, and other serious crimes.
