Met office predicts below average rainfall for Maldives in September

The Maldives Meteorological Office has forecast that rainfall this September will be lower than usual compared to previous years.

The Met Office released its rainfall and temperature outlook yesterday, indicating that September’s rainfall is expected to be unusually low across the country.

Temperatures are predicted to remain normal in the northern and central regions but could be higher than usual in the southern atolls.

Last September, rainfall was generally low throughout the Maldives, except in the northern parts.

The forecast is based on rainfall data collected over the 30-year period from 1991 to 2020. Historical records show that the southern regions typically receive the least rainfall in September.
