An individual struggling with mental health issues has attacked their father with a knife. 

Police said that they received reports at 10:30pm on Sunday night of a 26 year old Maldivian man with mental health issues attacking his 60 year old father with a sharp object. 

The incident occurred in AA. Ukulhas. 

The injured man is receiving treatment at the AA. Ukulhas Health Centre, Police said, confirming that the injuries were not life threatening. 

Persons close to the incident reported that the father was injured in the abdomen and arm.

Police said that the 26 year old is now in Police custody.
