More than 1,200 Gulhifalhu plot registries given out

The Housing Ministry has given out more than 1,200 plot registries under the Binveriya scheme.

As of now, a total of 1,260 individuals have received their plot registry, according to the Housing Ministry.

After the drawing of lots due to the changes brought to Gulhifalhu's Land Use Plan, the process of handing out registries is taking place at the Housing Ministry's former building grounds.

The Land Use Plan, which was formulated during Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, saw changes during the current administration, with some plots that were to be given at Giraavaru Falhu being changed to Gulhifalhu. Due to this, lots were picked once again to determine a person's plot.

The Housing Ministry announced the procurement of the new registry on 1st July. However, there are some people, who have already received their plots, who are opposed to signing the new agreement, due to contradictions being noticed between the new agreement and the land allocation rules.

The Housing Ministry published a press release regarding this issue, stating that even though individuals obtained plots at Hulhumale', Gulhufalhu and Giraavaru Falhu from the previous government and due various reasons resulting in changes being brought to the Land Use Plan, individuals who had received plots from the aforementioned regions have had their plots changed, with lots being drawn once again to determine where they would get the plots.

The ministry said the agreements signed by the previous administration with them were in conflict with the Maldivian Land Act, with the new agreement being drafted due to such reasons.

The government has decided on releasing 2,438 plots in Gulhifalhu. From that number, 1,347 plots were changed from Giraavaru Falhu to Gulhuifalhu.

Under the Binveriya scheme, a total of 9,031 plots are to be given to residents of Male' from Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru Falhu.
