Court has extended remand in custody of Ahmed Aashid by 30 days. 

Aashid was arrested in relation to the murder of AbduRahman, who was found with severe injuries in his bedroom in the early hours of July 13 and succumbed to injuries a few hours later. 

In addition to Aashid, Police arrested two other individuals in relation to the case. All three hails from AA. Maalhos, where the murder was committed. 

The three were arrested on August 21. The other two arrested in relation to the case are Mohamed Visham and Ahmed Faris. 

Visham and Faris were placed in remand in custody until the end of trial. However, the court initially placed Aashid in remand in custody for five days. 

A Police Media Official said that Aashid had been presented to court yesterday as his remand was expiring, and the court had decided to extend it by 30 days. 

It has been learned that of the three, Faris called a son of AbduRahman before news of the attack was known, claiming crowds had gathered outside AbduRahman's residence and asking what it was about. 

Faris is not known to call AbduRahman's son usually. Seeing a missed call from Faris, the son had called back later, at which point Faris explained he had called to enquire what was going on at AbduRahman's residence as people had gathered there. This call was made before people had been aware of the attack. All three of AbduRahman's sons had been in Male' at the time. 

Nazima Ibrahim, AbduRahman's wife, had been the first to discover him with his injuries, when she had gone in to his room to use the attached bathroom at around 1am that night. 

Some residents of Maalhos who had been inside AbduRahman's house after the attack reported that there had been excessive amounts of blood splatter in the room, even reaching the ceiling. 

AbduRahman had been taken to the AA. Maalhos Health Centre, but died just a few hours later.
