Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has said that half of the 4000 Gedhoruveriya flat recipients have now signed agreements.
FDC said that one month from the start of agreement signing, agreements have now been signed with over 2000 recipients. Of those remaining, signing appointments have now been scheduled with 1,530 recipients.
FDC said that they aim to complete agreement signing at the earliest and begin handing over the apartments.
Agreement signing commenced on July 21.
FDC conducts signings based on a list sent from the Housing Ministry after verifying information. The ministry forwards names separately to FDC, on order of verification. The verification, however, is not conducted in the same order as on the recipients list.
FDC has said that keys to the apartments will be handed over to the recipients after agreements are signed and the security deposit is paid. The security deposit for two bedroom apartments is set at MVR 15,000, while for three bedroom apartments, it is MVR 25,000.
FDC has previously raised concerns of recipients submitting incomplete information to the portal. They said that this is one of the key causes of delays in completing signings.
Once the agreements are signed, FDC also assists with registration for basic services such as water, electricity, cable and gas.
