A senior employee at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been suspended over allegations of misusing their position to allocate land.
According to sources, the female employee is accused of using her role to facilitate land allocation in the Hulhumale and Thilafushi areas. The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is also reportedly investigating cases related to her actions.
No further details about the suspension have been made public at this time.
This development comes amid broader shakeups within HDC under the leadership of current Managing Director Ali Zuhair. Early in his tenure, several departmental heads were suspended from their posts. Five of those officials have since been reassigned to different departments.
Last December, multiple HDC employees were suspended in connection with corruption allegations linked to the Gedhoruveriya/Binveriya housing schemes.
In total, 17 employees were suspended as part of that issue. Of those, three have since been dismissed, and one resigned. The remaining 13 were reinstated in April after their suspensions were lifted. Some of the affected employees took their cases to the labor tribunal and won.
