President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have travelled to HA. Utheemu, where this year's National Day ceremony is being held.
The ceremony will be at 10am today.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and Speaker of Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla will also be attending the ceremony.
Utheemu has been festively decked out for today's celebrations.
The President has decided to confer a special honour, Presidential Honour for Distinguished Service, on the people of Utheemu, recognizing their efforts in conserving Utheemu Palace (Utheemu Gan'duvaru).
Also in today's ceremony, the President will confer the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition.
This year, three individuals will receive the National Award of Honour, including one posthumous recipient.
Nine individuals and organizations will be presented with the National Award of Recognition.
