The Court has placed two out of the three individuals arrested in relation to the murder of AbduRahman in remand in custody until the end of trial, and placed the third on five days remand. 

AbduRahman was found in his bedroom with severe injuries to his head in the early hours of July 13. Although he was rushed to the AA. Maalhos health centre, he succumbed to his injuries just hours later.

The three were arrested late on Wednesday night and presented to court yesterday for their remand hearing. The court ordered Visham and Faris to be held until the end of trial, while Aashid was placed in remand in custody for five days. 

Aashid was arrested in Male'.

Faris is said to have called a son of AbduRahman before his death became public knowledge. Faris is not someone who usually calls the son. AbduRahman's son missed Faris's call, and later returned the call. During the call, Faris told the son that he had called because crowds were gathering outside AbduRahman's residence, and asked the reason for this.

However, the timing of this call was before residents of Maalhos had even become aware of the attack on AbduRahman.  

All three of AbduRahman's sons had been in Male' on the day of the incident. 

Faris works as an operator at the Fenaka water plant in Maalhos. AbduRahman's residence can be seen when exiting the Fenaka branch. 

It was AbduRahman's wife, Nazima Ibrahim, who first found AbduRahman with the severe injuries. The two slept in separate rooms that night at the wife's house, Mahiya. Nazima said she had gone in to AbduRahman's room to use the attached bathroom at around 1am and had discovered AbduRahman struggling for life and seriously injured. 

She had then called members of the family, and said she had not at first called anyone presently residing on the island. 

Some witnesses who later went in to the house following the attack on AbduRahman reported that blood splatter in the room was extensive, even reaching the ceiling. 

A few alleges that there is involvement of sorcery behind this attack. Some residents who spoke to Mihaaru News said that it was allegations of sorcery that had led to CCTV cameras being installed at one shop on the island. Some say that AbduRahman had been caught on footage after the camera had been installed. 

However, most residents of Maalhos reject these claims of AbduRahman having been involved in sorcery and black magic. Some have even said that this is the first time that such rumours have come to light.
