One of the three arrested in relation to the murder of AbduRahman had called a son of AbduRahman before his death had become public knowledge. When the son enquired why he had called, the accused had responded that there was a crowd gathering near AbduRahman's residence and asked what had happened.

AbduRahman was found with severe injuries to his head in his bedroom in the early hours of July 13. He was first found by his wife, Nazima Ibrahim.

One of those arrested, Ahmed Faris, 28, Finivaage, AA. Maalhos, had called one of AbduRahman's sons on the night of the incident, Mihaaru News reports. However, he was not someone who generally calls AbduRahman's son. The son had missed the initial call, and returned the call later. When asked why he had called, Faris had responded that he had called because crowds were gathering outside AbduRahman's residence, and he wanted to know why.

All three of AbduRahman's sons had been in Male' at the time of the incident.

Information received as of now indicates that the three persons Police arrested in relation to AbduRahman's murder are Ahmed Ashid, 28, Fiya, Ahmed Faris, 28, Finivaage, and Mohamed Visam, 23, LilyFehi. All three are residents of Maalhos.

The three are known to be close associates.

It is said that Faris' call to AbduRahman's son had been made before news of AbduRahman's death had been known to residents of Maalhos.

The focus of the investigation then fell on Faris, and Police questioned him about the call.

Police also searched the residences of Faris, Ashid and Visam earlier this month, and seized some clothes and some items of one.

Residents of Maalhos have said that the three were seen out and about in the island on the night of the event. Faris, who works as operator at Fenaka water plant and was on duty at the time.

AbduRahman's residence is visible from Faris' place of work, the Fenaka Branch in Ukulhas. AbduRahman was asleep at his wife's house, Mahiya.

Interviewed on the day by Mihaaru journalists, AbduRahman's wife Nazima Ibrahim said that she had discovered AbduRahman seriously injured when she had gone into his bedroom to use the attached bathroom at around 1am on the night of the attack. Nazima first called members of the family. She said that she had not called anyone who was residing on the island at the time.

Of their three sons, only one resides on the island. However, he, too, had been on a trip to Male' on the night of the attack. His wife was in her island of origin, Ukulhas.

Some witnesses who went to the house following the attack have said that there was blood splatter reaching the ceiling of the room AbduRahman had been attacked in.

Although Police confirmed that three persons have been arrested in relation to AbduRahman's death, they have not disclosed any further information.
