Preparations have been complete for the construction of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, where it will be expanded into four lanes, along with the area's seabed being extended outwards as well.

As per Construction Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib's words last night, in order to begin the upgrading process, one lane has been closed off.

A project to asphalt the road from the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal all the way to Rasfannu was handed to MTCC in early April. This is just for the sections that haven't had asphalt poured yet.

The four-lane extension project of Boduthakurufaanu Magu began last night, with Minister Muththalib stating that a portion of road from the Presidential Jetty up to the local market will be closed off, with traffic being diverted.

Boats and ferries will also be denied access to the aforementioned area.

The Minister apologizes for the inconvenience and requests public cooperation on this matter.

The project is set to be completed by 13th October, with the road and harbor being closed off until then.

A project to pour asphalt onto an 830 meter stretch of road from the Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal to the local market has been announced in the past. The road will be asphalted after the widening project is completed. The Construction Minister has also stated that the seabed in the four-lane project area will be expanded outwards as well.

The project was handed to MTCC due to their ability to install a drainage system and a gate along the drained area, with road markings and sign boards to be propped up for a cost of MVR 144 million. The project is to be completed within 455 days.

The previous administration had decided on asphalting the area as well, but the project remained uninitiated even as their term in office ended.

The upgrading and construction of the outer road was a pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
