MACL and HDC have been handed the project of building outdoor gyms and fitness centers in various islands.
The Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation handed MACL the project of building fitness centers in 63 islands, with HDC being handed the project of building outdoor gyms in 71 islands.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony held at H. Meeruma's event hall.
Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu signed the fitness center construction agreement on behalf of the Sports Ministry, with MACL Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef signing on MACL's behalf.
As per a statement released by MACL, Shareef stated that the project falls in line with one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledges, where the fitness centers serve the betterment of citizens' health and wellness.
MACL views the opportunity as an honor as said by Shareef.
Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu also signed the outdoor gym construction agreement, with HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair signing on the HDC's behalf.
HDC has said that they will be responsible for supplying and installation of the outdoor gyms, along with construction and repair of the outdoor gyms as per the agreement.
It is one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's pledges that the fitness and recreation centers be completed by the end of next year.
