Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu has urged students not to abandon their studies regardless of the outcome of this year’s O/Level examinations, the results of which will be published today.

The results of the May/June 2025 O/Level examinations will be released at 1:00 pm. today.

In a social media post, the minister said that while not all students may achieve the best results, the long-held belief that O/Level results define a student’s future is now a thing of the past.

“Do not let today’s results be a deciding factor to drop out... O/Level results being the "stamp" of your education is a thing of the past,” Minister Shafeeu wrote.

The ministry announced revised entry criteria for A Level enrolment, lowering admission requirements for grades 11 and 12 to allow more students to continue their studies yesterday.

Minister Shafeeu highlighted that students now have multiple learning pathways, including academic streams, vocational education, and workplace apprenticeship programmes.

Every student will have the opportunity to study in one of the pathways now available, he said.

The government has also introduced several measures to increase A Level participation. These include reopening the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) building and launching A Level programmes in 23 schools that previously offered only O Level studies, starting this year.
