Police have seized more than 200 old and unused vehicles from the streets of Malé City as part of an effort to clear public roads and improve accessibility for pedestrians and motorists.
According to the Maldives Police Service, a total of 208 vehicles were removed yesterday, including 168 motorcycles and 40 four-wheelers. The operation targeted vehicles that had been left unattended for long periods, obstructing roads and public spaces.
The removal was carried out in collaboration with the Malé City Council, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Maldives Police Service. Authorities said the effort is part of an ongoing initiative to keep the city’s streets safe, clean, and accessible.
Police regularly tow illegally parked vehicles and clear abandoned ones from the streets of Malé to reduce road congestion and prevent hazards.
