Elderly woman passes away following road accident in Kahdhoo

A 64-year-old woman has passed away after being injured in a traffic accident in Laamu atoll Kahdhoo.

The crash occurred around 7:30 pm last night when a motorcycle struck a group of pedestrians at a zebra crossing near Kahdhoo airport.

The victims included the woman and her grandchild, who were crossing the road, as well as the male rider and a female passenger on the motorcycle. All four sustained injuries of varying severity.

The woman, identified as Mariyam Moosa from Maavah, later passed away while receiving treatment, Maavah council president Ahmed Moosa told Mihaaru News.

The other injured parties remain in hospital. Details of their ages and conditions have not yet been released.
