B. Maamaduvvari, an island that was supposed to become a resort island, is set to be given back to Hithaadhoo citizens after no developmental efforts had taken place. This comes as an assurance from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Maamaduvvari and B. Anhenunfushi are islands that were given to Hithaadhoo. It was later taken back from them after it was decided that they'd be converted to resort islands.

The company responsible for developing Maamaduvvari as a resort island was Coastline Investment Pvt Ltd. However, no development has taken place to this day.

During President Muizzu's visit today to Hithaadhoo, he met with the local residents and told them that Coastline Investments weren't producing any results, which falls outside of their agreement with the government.

He went on to say that the agreement will be invalidated through the efforts of the Tourism Ministry and the Attorney General's Office (AG).

He also said that upon the completion of the invalidation process, Maamaduvvari will be given back to Hithaadhoo.

The President urged that Maamaduvvari be used for the benefit of Hithaadhoo residents, for the development of Hithaadhoo and for the betterment of the Hithaadhoo economy.
