President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that the agreement to develop a resort in the lagoon of Baa atoll Goidhoo will be signed within this month.
The announcement was made during his ongoing visit to the islands of the Baa Atoll.
Speaking to residents, President Muizzu said the Goidhoo resort development is one of his key presidential pledges, and preparations to fulfill that promise are well underway.
“We have already announced the project, recruited the necessary personnel, and awarded the bids. The agreement will be signed this month,” he stated.

President Muizzu also revealed that physical work is progressing on several other development projects in the atoll. These include plans to expand the local harbor to accommodate seaplanes, with work scheduled to begin next year.
Additionally, the President confirmed that efforts are underway to improve educational facilities. Expansion of the school is set to begin early next year to increase space and upgrade its infrastructure with the work handed over to Fenaka Corporation.
President Muizzu further announced that construction of a new health centre and a football stadium in the island will begin later this year, as part of broader efforts to enhance essential services and recreational facilities in the region.
