The President also said that the ministry will give the go ahead if the criteria falls within the bounds of the law.

The previous administration handed over the Thulhaadhoo 100 housing unit project to Precision Engineering Services Pvt Ltd in July 2019 under a design-and-build principle, at a cost of MVR 79.6 million.

However, due to the housing units not being given out to citizens after the work had finished, citizens protested against the council within their premises during the end of last year. It is said that the protest occurred due to the council attempting to go against on the established policy of the recipients of the housing units.

Housing units that spanned 1,100 square feet were constructed at Thulhaadhoo. The units have three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, storeroom and a laundry as well.

92 of the 100 housing units were given out to citizens of the island, with the other 8 being given out to people that wanted to move to Thulhaadhoo.
