Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has been awarded a contract to build a new block at Kamadhoo School in Baa atoll to ease space constraints.
The agreement was signed in Kamadhoo during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tour of the atoll. Education Minister Dr Ismail Shafeeu signed on behalf of the ministry, while FDC managing director Hamdhan Shakeel signed on behalf of the company.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Muizzu highlighted the shortage of space at the school. He said the new building would provide adequate classrooms and resources to meet the school’s needs.
The expansion project of the single session school was contracted to FDC for MVR 5.4 million.
The island, which has a population of about 500 people has 74 students studying from preschool to Grade 10.
