Driver of speeding car who hit Police motorcycle granted conditional release

The individual, identified as Ayk Hysham Hassan, 18, from H. Filimaage, has been granted conditional release after being brought in for defying police orders and speeding in Hulhumale' on the night of 9th August.

He is also known to not hold a car license.

Police stated that Ayk was granted conditional release by the Hulhumale' Magistrate Court when presented for his remand hearing. The conditions set by the court have not been disclosed.

Police also apprehended a woman who was the passenger in the car. She has since been released.

As per police statements, traffic officers signaled for the vehicle to come to a halt. The driver disobeyed the order and sped away, driving around Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2. The driver went on to slam into the side of a police motorcycle in pursuit, injuring one of the police officers who later received medical attention at the Hulhumale' Hospital.

Police stopped the driver near the Hulhumale' Dhiraagu office, close to the Phase 2 channel bridge.
