Identity revealed of speeding driver who hit Police motorcycle

Last night, an individual who was speeding in a car and who disobeyed police orders in Hulhumale' has been identified.

The individual in question, who has been detained has been identified as Ayk Hysham Hassan, 18, H. Filimaage.

Police also apprehended last night a woman who was the passenger in the car. She has has since been released.

As per police statements last night, traffic officers signaled for the vehicle to come to a halt. The driver disobeyed the order and sped away, driving around Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2. The driver went on to slam into the side of the police motorbikes in pursuit, injuring one of the police officers who is currently seeking medical attention at the Hulhumale' Hospital.

Police stopped the driver near the Hulhumale' Dhiraagu office, close to the Phase 2 channel bridge.

Police have stated that the injured police officer has now been released after receiving medical attention, with the officer being referred for additional treatment by specialist doctors.
