Police say they have collected key information for their investigation into the 1 June power outage that left Male' City without electricity for several hours.

In a statement, police said that they had gathered preliminary findings and other relevant details, which are now being examined.

“We will share the findings of the investigation when it is completed,” the statement said.

While police made this statement, all areas of Male' and Hulhumale' experienced another blackout on this morning.

State Electric Company (STELCO) was able to restore power to all areas within about two hours.

The 1 June power outage lasted roughly five hours before electricity was fully restored across Male' and Hulhumale'.

On that day, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu instructed police to treat the incident as a serious matter and to conduct a thorough investigation.
