The Maldivian government has strongly condemned Israel's recent decision to annex the entire Gaza Strip, calling it a serious violation of Palestinian rights and international law.
In a separate statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs also criticized the move, saying that Israel’s plan to take full control of Gaza goes against international law. The ministry said it undermines Palestinian self-rule and violates Palestinian sovereignty.
Maldives urged the international community to step in and take necessary action to prevent Israel from carrying out the plan. The government also said it is doing everything it can to help stop Israel’s actions in Palestine and to hold the country accountable for its treatment of the Palestinian people.
Maldives reaffirmed its strong support for the Palestinian people's right to establish their own independent state. The Foreign Ministry said the only way to achieve lasting peace is through the creation of a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to a recent UN report, the humanitarian crisis in Palestine has reached its worst point in over 60 years. The ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza, now in its 21st month, has already claimed more than 60,000 lives. The number of children and civilians dying from hunger is also rising every day.
