The project to modernize the roads across 11 islands was officially awarded today.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the contract for the road development works has been granted to the Road Development Corporation (RDC).
At a ceremony held for the occasion, State Minister Hassan Rasheed signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry, while RDC's newly appointed Managing Director, Ibrahim Nazeem—who took office last week—signed on behalf of the corporation.
The villages to be modernized under this project are:
- Th. Guraidhoo main Roads (MVR. 74 million)
- Th. Kinbidhoo main roads (MVR. 79 million)
- M. Muli main roads (MVR. 85 million)
- HA. Thuraakunu main road (MVR. 65 million)
- HDh. Nolhivaranfaru main roads (MVR. 101 million)
- Th. Hirilandhoo main roads (MVR. 70 million)
- B. Thulhaadhoo main road (MVR. 70 million)
- Sh. Maroshi main roads (MVR. 60 million)
- HDh. Finey main roads (MVR. 65 million)
- N. Mafaru main roads (MVR. 116 million)
- B. Kudarikilu main roads (MVR. 53 million)
RDC has been awarded the contract to complete the roadworks within 730 days. The Ministry of Construction has decided to pave the roads based on the specific requests of each island.
