Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed fell from the ninth floor of a Male' building and suffered great injuries. The police have still been unable to get a statement from her regarding the incident.

The police media official stated that they have been unsuccessful in getting a statement from Yumnu, 21.

She was found fallen on the roof of H. Mitaaz after she fell from H. Fentenoy in the early hours of 18th April. She was treated for her injuries in IGMH and then was taken to Malaysia to receive further treatment.

Police have previously stated that when Yumnu was taken to Malaysia for treatment, two police officers left to Malaysia on the very same day. Even though they are ready to get her statement, they have been unable to do so for the investigation, as said by the police.

The police said at the time that they were cooperating with local Malaysian authorities to get a statement for their investigation.

However, the police media official has stated that the two officers who had gone to Malaysia had come back to Maldives and that they had failed to get the statement for the investigation, even with the help from Malaysian authorities.

Raudh, who was last with Yumnu before the incident, was arrested and released after several extensions of his remand. But after investigating the case, he has now been charged with failure to assist a person in need without justifiable reason.

The police's handling of the case raised strong public criticism due to which President Dr Mohamed Muizzu created a special presidential commission for the case. The commission had highlighted instances of negligence from the police's investigation. However, the commission also ruled that Yumnu was not deliberately thrown off the building.
