Ministry of Health has awarded contracts worth MVR 23.5 million to renovate health centres across six islands, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Maldives.
At a signing ceremony held at the Ministry, contracts were given to renovation and expansion of health centres in HA. Thuraakunu, HA. Vashafaru, Sh. Lhaimagu, N. Magoodhoo, F. Billehdhoo, and F. Dharanboodhoo. The work was awarded to three construction companies.
Perfect Malafehi Maldives was awarded two contracts. One includes upgrading the health centres in HA. Vashafaru and HA. Thuraakunu with new wards, private rooms, laboratories, nurse stations, procedure rooms, garages, and warehouses. The MVR 4.8 million project is expected to be completed within 210 days. Additionally, the company will expand administrative spaces, including offices, meeting halls, and laundry facilities in Thuraakunu for MVR 3.4 million, to be completed in 180 days.
E-con Maldives was awarded a contract to expand the health centre in Sh.Lhaimagu with similar facilities for MVR 4.8 million to be completed within 180 days.
Samaal Construction Company will carry out upgrades on health centres in N. Magoodhoo, F. Billehdhoo, and F. Dharanbudhoo. Each centre will be equipped with a ward, laboratory, nurse station, procedure room, laundry, and storage space.
The Magoodhoo and Billehdhoo projects are to be completed within 180 days, with budgets of MVR 4.8 million and MVR 4.3 million, respectively. The Dharanbudhoo works, valued at MVR 4.8 million, are scheduled for completion within 210 days.
