Civil Service Commission (CSC) President Mohamed Nasih has said that discussions are underway on salary increments for all civil servants, in accordance with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's pledge.

Nasih announced this at the inauguration of Local Government Ministry's "Aharu Medhu Muraajaa" (mid-year review) meeting.

While Nasih has stated this, this year's budget has an allocation of MVR 500 million for harmonizing pay among civil servants and judicial sector staff.

Nasih further said that the Pay Commission is currently meeting with various ministries concerning this matter.

The Civil Service Commission President stressed that civil servants must give priority to their assigned duties during official hours. He underscored the importance of maximizing time spent in the workplace and cautioned against deferring tasks with the intent of claiming overtime pay.

The Civil Service currently employs over 30,000 staff. Last year's budget had an allocation of MVR 12 billion for civil servants' pay, while this year the allocation is at MVR 13.9 billion.

Nasih further highlighted the need for regular reviews of departmental work and urged attention to the underlying causes of any incomplete tasks.
