Maldives is participating in the High-level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at UN Headquarters in New York on 28 and 29 July.
The Maldives delegation is led by Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of Maldives to the UN.
The Foreign Ministry said that Maldives will deliver a statement during the plenary session of the conference where the long standing support for the rights of Palestinians will be reaffirmed.
"The Government continues to advocate for the realization of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
A ministerial high-level meeting is also planned to discuss the outcomes of the Working Groups established for this conference.
