Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has put out a rain forecast for the next two days.
A MET Office official told Mihaaru News that showers are expected in the central and southern parts of the country today, with rain being expected throughout the country tomorrow and Wednesday as well.
The official went on to say that seas will be moderate to moderately rough, with heavy winds.
Northern atolls will see winds from the west and northwest, with other atolls experiencing winds between 7 mph and 17 mph at eastern and southeastern atolls. Winds are speculated to reach up to 40 mph.
The weather forecast shows that the heaviest rainfall is expected on Wednesday, with Maldives currently experiencing the southwestern monsoon.
The weather was especially bad last week, with rain causing heavy winds and damage to some properties.
According to the Dhivehi Nakaiy calendar, the western monsoon is set to start tomorrow. According to the Dhvehi Nakaiy calendar, there will be fewer rainy days in this Nakaiy. The wind and sea will be generally calm as the western monsoon starts tomorrow.
Maldives' northeast monsoon usually lasts from January to March, with the southwestern monsoon going from May to November. April and December are the months where seasons transition.
